Ambulance worker thanks patient and nurse who helped save his life

Ambulance worker Shaun McBride suddenly collapsed after strapping 72-year-old patient Tommy Stewart into a vehicle for transfer from Glen O’Dee Hospital in Banchory to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland. Mr. Stewart couldn’t reach the horn but yelled for help until a hospital caterer came out and nurse Freya Smith-Nicol was alerted. The 28-year-old nurse performed CPR for 25 minutes, with help from a team, until an ambulance arrived. Mr. McBride was given seven shocks from a portable defibrillator and was eventually revived.
